How can a restaurant take reservations without tying up the phone?
Saturday service in Khan Market or Sector 29, when nobody can leave the floor and the table goes to whoever picked up.
Put a voice agent on the reservation line so Saturday service is not also the host stand. It takes a table, not a full order.
That is the job for a restaurant in Delhi NCR when nobody can leave the floor and the table goes to whoever picked up. I will not tell you this runs the pass. I will tell you what Khan Market actually does at 8:30.
Saturday, table for four, Jain dal
Sector 29 is full. Khan Market is full. The phone is at the host stand, and the host is on the floor with a tray. Someone wants a table for four at 8:30 and whether the dal is Jain. They will not hold for a kitchen.
If nobody picks up, the table goes to the place that did. Nobody picks up the phone is the wider hole. This is service, with the dal already on the flame.
The other failure is the three places a name lives. A line in the diary. A WhatsApp from the owner. A note on the pass. The same four get written twice, or not at all. The 8:30 walk in sits down in a table you thought was held. That is not a missed ring. That is a booking that was never one booking.
I will not invent how many covers you lose. Count the rings that die during one Saturday service, and the names that existed in two places. That list is the brief.
What the agent can take
A voice agent sits on the reservation number. It says it is an assistant. It takes a time, a party size, and a note for Jain or no onion. It writes that once, where the host already looks. You get the transcript.
It does not take a full order across the menu. A thali with three swaps, a kid’s plate, and a question about the fish is a different job. I will say so if that is what you are asking for. This page is the table.
The voice floor is Rs 25,000 on pricing. Floor, not a quote. The number moves if the diary is a notebook, if you have two rooms, or if the thing has to keep running after I hand it over.
If you already trust a reservations book or an app, the agent writes into that. It will not fight the book. If the book, WhatsApp and the pass are three lists, we start by making them one. The floor should not have to guess.
Today’s hours, in both places
Google still has last year’s hours. The website, if it exists, has a menu file from two seasons ago. People walk in and walk out. Why you are not showing on Google Maps is the listing half. This page is the ring. They are the same Saturday if the hours are wrong.
The site has to open on a phone and state the hours you are actually running, and the menu you are actually serving. A site for a small business in Delhi NCR starts at Rs 30,000 on the pricing page. That is the page they read before they call. It is not a reservation system by itself.
The agent, the site and the listing should read the same Saturday hours. If Holi is shut, all three say shut. If you update one and not the others, the stranger arrives at a dark door and writes the review you then spend a week on.
I have timed clinic sites, not restaurant sites. I will not paste those measurements here. The phone test still applies. If the page takes a wait longer than they will sit, they never see tonight’s hours. People leave after three seconds.
Write the booking once
Automation here is not a Monday report. It is the name that used to be typed into the diary, the chat and the pass. What office work you can automate is the evening-retyping page. On a Saturday the office work is the reservation.
Typed once. The host sees it. The pass sees it if that is where you already look. WhatsApp is no longer a second diary.
Automation starts at Rs 15,000. We pick the ring or the retyping, whichever is eating service. I do not sell both on day one so the quote looks like a stack.
A walk in still needs a human. A regular who wants “the usual” still needs a human. A complaint about last night still needs a human. The agent is the 8:30 table and the Jain note.
What I will not do
I will not tell you this takes orders. Tables, hours, walk ins, a dietary note. A full order is a different build.
I will not promise more covers. Answering the reservation you already miss is the work. Whether those four then sit down depends on the food, the wait, and the place next door.
I will not leave last year’s hours on the listing and call the site done.
Write what a reservation is allowed to be: party size, times you actually hold, Jain and no onion, what happens when 8:30 is gone. Then get in touch. A short call. If the hole is the phone, we start with voice. If the hole is three lists, we start with one. If the host already picks up and the book is clean, I will say so and stop bothering you.
